San Francisco Western Rampage & Beach Bonfire, Hike & Someday Maybe Pagan Ritual (Good for Beginners)
6:00 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.

Come celebrate Caeser's crossing of the Rubicon and the first pineapples being planted in Hawaii tonight with Jonathon Eros on a nighttime journey through San Francisco's Golden Gate Park to the west, Ocean Beach, where we'll gather beach debris for as pagan a bonfire as the participants desire.  Bring your favorite neo-pagan ritual, libation, birthday outfit, or ex's pix for the fire, as well as consumables to share.  (Neopagan notice: organizer supplies event; ritual behavior is encouraged, but up to you!)  Layered clothing for cold wind and unpredictable weather recommended, as are strong flashlights.  After bonfire, the group will return to 38th Ave. and Balboa, with optional post-fire visits elsewhere up to group.   Start the eve early with extra mingling and imbibing of food/drink at 6:00 p.m. at the back of the Zephyr Cafe on Balboa at 38th Ave.  We'll then meet stragglers no later than 7:30 p.m. at the SE corner of Balboa and 38th.  Note:  with rain, event becomes Games Night.

DIRECTIONS:  Zephyr is on Balboa between 37/38th Avenues, 415/221-6063.   From the south, 280, take Hwy 1/19th Ave. exit, stay in right lanes at the 19th Ave./Juniperro Serra split to continue up J. Serra to Sloat, left and continue to the Great Hwy, right.  Go past the park and the remodeled windmill and turn right on Fulton.  Left at 38th to Balboa.  If you get desperate for directions, try organizer on cell phone at 415/710-2533.  He may have visual tricks for latecomers to ID group, and will be wearing fedora.  For GPS aficionados, try 37* 46.539' N, 122* 29.892' W.
Or try the map...

ORGANIZER:   Jonathon Eros, visually prominent w/neon wire.  415/752-2699, 6 - 9 p.m., but please continue to call if return is long distance, or grizzly@laughingbear.org (iffey that day).  Cell 415/710-2533.  Co-listed with various groups.  No dogs, please.

Do note:  Glass items are HIGHLY discouraged at Ocean Beach, for all the obvious reasons.  Do try to avoid bringing beverages in glass.  If you have a decent wine, it will cheerfully survive being repackaged in a double Ziploc, just for the short journey from car to sand.  And of course all litter needs to be brought back out to the cans by the street   Beware, though.  While it's pretty rare, I have seen GGNRA police ticketing folks at the beach with glass in hand...
