San Francisco Birthday Embarrassment, then Games Night for All Ages
8:15 - at least 9:30 p.m.

Cast off your workweek chains tonight (unless, well, never mind...) in celebrating a tractorless John Deere birth, the destruction of Bentre, and Flo Nightingale hearing strange voices, by playing games with Jonathon Eros and other lost souls.  Bring your own favorite board or card games to share and your intent to devastate your potential mates in play this eve.  Organizer has a few, limited games.  Food monies a good idea.  We will be playing in the rear of the Zephyr Cafe, which has beverages and light meal fare.

Saturday, February 22
San Francisco Western Rampage & Beach Bonfire, Hike & Someday Maybe Pagan Ritual (Good for Beginners)
6:00 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.

Come celebrate popcorn's American discovery tonight with Jonathon Eros on a nighttime journey through San Francisco's Golden Gate Park to the west, Ocean Beach, where we'll gather beach debris for as pagan a bonfire as the participants desire.  Bring your favorite neo-pagan ritual, libation, birthday outfit, or ex's pix for the fire, as well as consumables to share.  (Neopagan notice: organizer supplies event; ritual behavior is encouraged, but up to you!)  Layered clothing for cold wind and unpredictable weather recommended, as are strong flashlights.  After bonfire, the group will return to 38th Ave. and Balboa, with optional post-fire visits elsewhere up to group.   Start the eve early with extra mingling and imbibing of food/drink at 6:00 p.m. at the back of the Zephyr Cafe on Balboa at 38th Ave.  We'll then meet stragglers no later than 7:30 p.m. at the SE corner of Balboa and 38th.  Note:  with rain, event becomes Games Night.

DIRECTIONS:  Zephyr is on Balboa between 37/38th Avenues, 415/221-6063.   From the south, 280, take Hwy 1/19th Ave. exit, stay in right lanes at the 19th Ave./Juniperro Serra split to continue up J. Serra to Sloat, left and continue to the Great Hwy, right.  Go past the park and the remodeled windmill and turn right on Fulton.  Left at 38th to Balboa.  If you get desperate for directions, try organizer on cell phone at 415/710-2533.  He may have visual tricks for latecomers to ID group, and will be wearing fedora.  For GPS aficionados, try 37* 46.539' N, 122* 29.892' W.

ORGANIZER:   Jonathon Eros, visually prominent w/neon wire.  415/752-2699, 6 - 9 p.m., but please continue to call if return is long distance, or grizzly@laughingbear.org (iffey that day).  Cell 415/710-2533.  Co-listed with various groups.  No dogs, please.

Do note:  Glass items are HIGHLY discouraged at Ocean Beach, for all the obvious reasons.  Do try to avoid bringing beverages in glass.  If you have a decent wine, it will cheerfully survive being repackaged in a double Ziploc, just for the short journey from car to sand.  And of course all litter needs to be brought back out to the cans by the street   Beware, though.  While it's pretty rare, I have seen GGNRA police ticketing folks at the beach with glass in hand...

Sunday, February 23
Come Play at San Francisco's Beach - Picnic, Pro-Frisbee, Kites, Play
12:00 p.m. - afternoon

Join Jonathon Eros in an afternoon at San Francisco's Ocean Beach.  Insane in February?  No, just another California experience.  We'll be by a freestyle frisbee championship event, with any decent wind leader will have major-league kites flying, and we'll do anything the group wants.  Bring food to share, blanket, toys for play, etc., and be prepared for any kind of weather but rain (any amount that morning cancels).

DIRECTIONS:   We'll rendezvous on the level part of the beach as close to Lincoln as possible.  From the south, 280, take Hwy 1/19th Ave. exit, stay in right lanes at the 19th Ave./Juniperro Serra split to continue up J. Serra to Sloat, left and continue to the Great Hwy, right.  Go almost to the park and the shabby windmill and either turn right on Lincoln to park or park to your left along sea wall area. If you get desperate for directions, try organizer on cell phone at 415/710-2533.  Map, showing closest intersection, not actual rendezvous point (we'll be on the sand, eh?)  Leader will have on big hat, and will be obvious in decent wind, w/o wind be flying spiky ball from 22' pole.

ORGANIZER:   Jonathon Eros, 415/752-2699, 6 - 9 p.m., but please continue to call if organizer's return call to you is long distance, or try grizzly@laughingbear.org.  If you need to call during event, try his cellphone from at 415/710-2533.  Co-listed with various groups.  Supervised children, dogs, all seem quite appropriate.

NOTE:  If you can help on this event, it would be hugely appreciated!  Normally, Eros drags gear around on a wheeled handtruck.  Which of course won't work on sand.  If there's any way you could give a jingle and let him know you can show up maybe a half hour, an hour early to help carry stuff down to the beach, it would be VERY much appreciated...
